New requirements, including stringent side impact protection measures, pedestrian crash prevention systems, and an updated moderate front overlap test, highlight the IIHS's commitment to raising the bar for automotive safety.

IIHS President David Harkey emphasized the significance of this year's winners, stating, "This year’s winners are true standouts, offering the highest level of protection for both vehicle occupants and other vulnerable road users."

Notably, vehicles must now attain a rating of "good" in the updated side crash test to qualify for either award, a testament to Subaru's unwavering dedication to comprehensive safety measures. Furthermore, the replacement of the original moderate front overlap test with an updated version emphasizes back seat safety and further underscores Subaru's commitment to protecting occupants from all angles.
